GBFreeski’s top freeskiers coach senior partners and staff from team tax and accounting sponsor Reeves at an exclusive clinic and team building day at Manchester’s Chill Factore indoor slope.

Dubbed the ‘FReeveski’ clinic, Reeves staff and partners took part in a packed programme, receiving a warm address from Great Britain’s elite athletes and talking freeski, teamwork, commitment, tax and sport accounting with a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the future of British freeskiing and Winter Olympic snowsport in between hitting the slopestyle sessions.

GBFreeski Head Coach Pat Sharples took on the duties of structuring the day’s accelerated on-the-slope clinics which saw Reeves staff and partners – virgin freeskiers – progress through technique and confidence building on to box, pipe and jump tricking with high speed action photoshoots during the day. Sharples is credited as one of the principal architects in transforming Great Britain’s snowsport fortunes, putting GBFreeski and British athletes on the international map with podium success.

Elite athletes Rowan Cheshire, Molly Summerhayes, World #5 Slopestyler Katie Summerhayes and Pete Speight were on hand to guide, inspire and ignite the day’s achievements on and off slope, and pick up a few valuable tax and accounting tips.

“We’ve had some totally epic wipeout’s and a few awesome 180’s and almost popping 360’s from the guys which is outstanding. Most of us started freeski on the indoor slopes so it’s great to train with Reeves here after all their support for us,” commentated starlet Rowan Cheshire, one of the targets of Reeves Re:Talent young athlete funding and recent Bronze medal winner at the New Zealand North Face Open.

And what about Reeves’ freeski prospects?

Sharples, who oversees both Great Britain’s elite performance and grassroots coaching programmes, including the British Freeski Camps, Grom Camps and Salomon Freeski Camps commented:

“This is a super quick learning curve for anyone, especially fresh out of the office, early in the season with no recent skiing, pulling twists and jumps on modules at the steep top end of the slope. You’ve got to be having fun to get the confidence and skill together so fast. I’m so stoked at all the performances. The team have supporting each other so well throughout and we’ve made a few new freeskiers. It’s fantastic working together on these days, bring on the next session!”

Where do our new freeskiers go from here?

“Practice, tune in to Sochi in February, and Pyeongchang 2018 qualification is waiting…”

Andrew Ericson, Analyst Programmer at Reeves and virgin Freeski convert said:
“I love the variation in freeski and the training, it’s been amazing. We’ve had loads of freedom to develop our style so quickly and work as a team and really appreciate the support and encouragement from Pat and the team’s fantastically talented athletes. We’ve gained a lot in confidence and understanding as a group today, and we’ll be keeping up with the Sochi qualifications over the next few months.”

Reeves’ ongoing GBFreeski active team building programme is designed to provide a blend of personal and team development for staff and partners embedding the motivations, skills and levers to compete and succeed at the highest levels, a fresh window to deeper experiences with clients, and first hand integration of pressing tax and accounting needs of busy international athletes to a top sport financial services practice.

Nigel Fright, newly appointed Managing Partner at Reeves comments; “Reeves are very proud to support GB Freeski – it was incredible to be on the slope with some of the GB team and learn more about all the exciting challenges they’ve got coming up. I wish GB Freeski the best of luck in all their upcoming competitions and
look forward to working with them throughout the coming months. We are delighted to be helping them and to be a part of the team behind the team!”
GBFreeski and Reeves would like to thank the Chill Factore and all those involved in delivering the on and off slope activity.
